NAMI SC on Capitol Hill
NAMI-SC Representatives meet with Congressional Representatives on Capitol Hill to advocate for Recovery & Reform Capitol Hill - Washington, D.C. Thursday, July 1, 2010 In March, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act setting our nation on the path of insurance expected to be extremely complicated and is likely to have enormous consequences for publicly funded mental health and substance abuse services. Simultaneous to implementation of health reform are changes in group health plan coverage for mental illness and substance abuse treatment coverage under the 2008 Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act. On Thursday, July 1, NAMI representatives from all over the country met face to face with members of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to discuss Recovery & Reform. NAMI is the nation's largest grass-roots organization dedicated to people with mental illness and their families.
